The editorial focusses on we believe are emergent themes in ODFL. There are three primary studies, from Carolyn Rood and Michael Barbour entitled 'Virtual Learning for Māori Students', a reflection of sensemaking in a South African context from Piera Biccard and @Ningi Sibisi, and an insight into supporting critical thinking skills in online learning from Tae Kyung Park and Nadine Stuehm. Then follows a descriptive piece, a personal reflection in action on self-training approaches from Janet Kesterson Isbell. The volume is completed with a book review of Paul E. France's 'Humanizing Distance Learning: Centering Equity and Humanity in Times of Crisis', reviewed by Azizah Binhuwaimel.
